Wow. It's amazing how much work I can get done when I don't have to go to work.
So far (with the weekend only half way over) I managed to:
* wade into the wayback machine on archive.org and actually find old code from the initial versions of this website (back in 1995/6) and restore a lot of the 1996 section in the archive. Motivated me to hunt through a bunch of old files and find some of the corresponding graphics. I also got to go back and read a lot of the inane rantings of my 14 years younger self. Which was not especially fun. Oh well. Whatevs.
* Then I added a few more pictures to the Gallery section and added a random image thumbnail generator to the homepage of this site. Kinda neat.
* Then I researched a fix for logging in and logging out so that it no longer forces you over to the forum when you log in and out.
* I also integrated the forum into the website a lot better so that it looks more like a part of the website. While I was at it, I updated a ton of text all over the website because there was a ton of outdated and poorly written stuff.
* THEN I stumbled upon and old ebook script that I had written in Perl. It was hard coded for the old server from before the crash, and I'd really like to keep the entire website in PHP instead of Perl... so I began converting it to php, and it only took me a day and a half. I have a bunch more mods and new coding that I'd like to add to it, but basically... suddenly... like, from out of nowhere, I have ebook software again, so I can offer paperless copies and online previews here before long.
I have not coded this much in YEARS.
Kinda fun.
